"The Queen’s Guide award is the highest award you can work towards in guiding. It gives you the chance to develop your skills, give back to guiding and support your local community."

The Queen's Guide Award is offered to Girlguiding members aged between 16 and 30. The aim is to complete 5 challenges in under 3 years, focusing on things like personal growth and community action. As a Ranger (aged 14-18), my leaders often suggested that I look into starting the award, but I could never find challenges I was interested in, or that I could feasibly complete (being a COVID Ranger was tough!). I took a year away from Guiding when I went to university, but came back as a Rainbows leader in 2023. During my time away, the award's syllabus had changed. In December 2025, I contacted my District Commissioner about officially starting the award and was able to start planning immediately.
How it works
The Queen's Guide Award (as of 2025) is split up into 5 challenges:
Personal Development Challenge
Develop a skill in or outside of Girlguiding to enhance your personal growth.
Guiding Challenge
Take an active part in guiding at a variety of levels. This challenge is your chance to make a difference to guiding.
Community Action Challenge
Encourage active participation in the world we live in.
Lead the Way Challenge
Take on a leadership role in an outdoor environment.
Social Experience Challenge
Challenge yourself in a new setting and focus on building new relationships.
